Click icon to go to store:   The small Decorative Bird House features a key-hide disquised as one of the wood logs on the side of the house. The opening is 1-1/8" that most sparrows and smaller birds prefer and is made of untreated pine. Birds are more likely to use the house if made with untreated wood rather than painted wood as the fumes of paint and other treated material tend to discourage their acceptance of the house unless painted houses are aged for quite some time until all the odors are gone. Also, the preservatives in treated wood are harmful to our feathered friends. Click icon to go to store: The larger Decorative Bird House features an opening of 1-1/4" that bluebirds prefer.  It is made in the same log cabin style with untreated pine and can be mounted on a pole or placed on a fence close to a field with the opening facing south toward a low hanging branch of a tree or other structure within a few feet so new bluebirds just leaving the nest don't have to fly far on their first flight. The screws can be removed from the roof to clean out the nest for the next brood.
